Eric Ravilous, Vase of Flowers in a garden
Eric Ravilious (1903-1942) was an English painter, designer, book illustrator and wood engraver. He became an official war artist in World War II and was killed while accompanying a Royal Air Force air sea rescue mission. He became one of the best known artists in the 1930s. He was married and had three children.

Neither in my Google internet search, nor in Oxford Art Online did I find information about Ravilious’ drawing techniques, but I found many beautiful pictures, mostly watercolour drawings and woodprints. I was impressed by the variety of textures and the amount of fine detail in these pictures.
I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything similar in style, but am full of respect for the beauty and finesse of Ravilious’ works.
